FUNNY

It was at the end of the day when I parked my police cruiser in front of the station.
As I gathered my equipment, my partner, K-9 Jake, wasK-9 Lucki of the Milwaukee County Sheriff Department barking and I noticed a small boy staring at me.
“Is that a dog you got back there?”
“It sure is”, I replied.
Puzzled, the boy looked at me and then back at K-9 Jake in the cruiser.
Finally, he asked, “What’d he do?”

Member Injuries

Deputy Tamara Larsen of the Polk County Sheriff Department was struck by a driver having a diabetic reaction.  Her foot and nose were broken and discs in her back and neck were ruptured. She is undergoing therapy and her long-term prognosis is still unknown. Tamara is looking for assistance with her bloodhounds, if anyone is interested. Please keep Tamara in your thoughts and prayers.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Officer Craig Kasten of the Crivitz Police Department (pictured right with K9 “5-0”) was involved in a serious car accident on 9/3/06. He was on his way home when an intoxicated driver ran a stop sign and t-boned his car, hitting him in the drivers side.  Craig was ejected from the vehicle and flown to Green Bay. Craig suffered 5 fractures to his pelvis, several fractured ribs, a lacerated spleen, a 9-inch head laceration and a brain bleed, which fortunately has stopped bleeding. Craig is a full time officer for the Village of Crivitz, part time officer for the Village of Lena and a fraud investigator for Oconto County.

9/26/06: Craig was able to leave the hospital and is at home beginning rehab!
9/29/06: Benefit for Craig raised over $10,000 for medical expenses!

11/14/06: Craig is now in therapy, hoping to return to light duty next year. Doctors expect full recovery and Craig is anxious to return to his patrol duties. Craig is getting assistance from Deputies Brad Olsen, Todd Skarban, Brett West and Jamie Curran (all WLECHA members) from Oconto & Marinette Counties in keeping K-9 5-0 in shape.  As far as the driver of the striking vehicle, she was arrested on felony warrants and is scheduled for court in December.
