Madison’s first dual-purpose canine, K-9 Arno, died on June 25, 2006. Arno was diagnosed with prostate cancer in January, one month prior to his scheduled retirement.
Arno was responsible for the seizure of almost 130 pounds of marijuana, 6 pounds of cocaine, 6 pounds of cocaine base, $270,000 in US currency and numerous firearms and vehicles during his career. On three occasions Arno and his partner, Chris Boyd, were awarded the Wisconsin Meritorious Narcotics Find by WLECHA.
