2011 CONFERENCE – JEFFERSON COUNTY
Plans are well under way for the 2011 WLECHA Conference which is being hosted by the Jefferson County Sheriffs Department. We have selected the JC Plaza Hotel and Conference Center which is located at 725 Paradise Lane, Johnson Creek, WI Telephone (920)699-2800. Their website is www.jcplazahotel.com and registration can be found on our website www.wlecha.org
The board met at the JC Plaza on July 25th and shored up banquet details and other logistical issues with the banquet coordinator. The hotel MAY change names, but we were assured they would be open for business and that things would remain the same. Pay special attention to directions…..there is no easy/off ramp to the hotel.
membership cards to be issued again
Starting this year membership cards will be issued to all current members as a result of issues many departments are having when obtaining their state drug license through the Controlled Substance Board.
Special thanks to Robert Block (retired – State of Wisconsin) for bringing this to our attention. Bob will be one of the speakers at this year’s conference and will address how to fill out the SUA application for Wisconsin. There have been many issues with departments attempting to obtain the proper documentation from the state and Bob will clear all that up in October.
One of the requirements for the state license is to have a membership in a national police dog association. Bob has offered to recommend WLECHA to the board and for our association membership count towards obtaining the license.

GOLF OUTING –JEFFERSON CONFERENCE

On Sunday, October 2nd, 2011, JCSO has made arrangements for 18 holes to be played at the areas best golf course. Koshkonong Mounds is offering us a special price of $38.00 which includes cart and a sandwich at the turn.

MEMBERSHIP CHANGE-EXPIRATION TIME - UPDATE
During the general membership meeting a vote was passed to amend Section II C. of the bylaws to read: The dues-paying period shall cover that period of time from October 1st through September 30th and shall be paid yearly. This will make it easier for record keeping purposes and hopefully address some membership issues we have experienced in the past.
