The Wisconsin Law Enforcement Canine Handler Association was formed in 1992 to unite canine handlers fr om all Wisconsin law enforcement agencies and to establish a support network for the dissemination of information and the exchange of ideas.
WLECHA seeks to promote friendship and camaraderie among those interested in the training and deployment of the law enforcement canine.
WLECHA and its members strive to maintain and improve the positive image of the law enforcement working dog through improved public service and education.
WLECHA maintains a database of Wisconsin law enforcement canine resources to aid in the location and utilization of canine teams when needed.
WLECHA seeks to maintain a skilled and knowledgeable body to provide information and assistance to local and state agencies concerning the deployment of law enforcement canines as well as the establishment of training and certification standards.
WLECHA also provides information to legislative entities in order to promote the establishment of laws which enhance the ability of the law enforcement canine handler to perform successfully.
